NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 21 – AFC Leopards handed their arch rivals Gor Mahia a massive reprieve on top of the FKF Premier League standings after ending Nairobi City Styars’ envious seven-match winning streak with a 2-0 victory at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega.
The victory means Gor Mahia will enjoy a 10-point buffer on top of the log at least for another two weeks, after beating close title rivals Tusker FC by a solitary goal on Saturday.
Goals in the second half from Maxwell Otieno and Kevin Kimani handed Ingwe the victory, their third consecutive win and fourth in five games, as their resurgence continued.
The win lifts Ingwe to 10th in the standings with 24 points.
Meanwhile, Posta Rangers rose back to third on the log after a hard-earned 1-0 win over struggling Murang’a Seal. Brian Marita’s goal was enough for the mailmen who moved to 32 points, one behind City Stars and one above Tusker FC who have dropped by a spot.
Murang’a Seal on the other end went for the eighth match without victory and rop to 11th in the standings.
In the other two matches played Sunday, Kenya Police FC continued with their rebirth under Salim Babu with a 2-0 win over struggling Nzoia Sugar while Bidco United had a five-star performance, thrashing FC Talanta 5-2 in the early kick off in Machakos.
