Tusker’s Kapaito ready for ‘special’ Kariobangi Sharks re-union

NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 5 – Tusker FC forward Eric Kapaito says he is ready for a ‘special reunion’ when the brewers take on Kariobangi Sharks at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, as the FKF Premier League returns this weekend.

Kapaito won two golden boots and the FKF PL Most Valuable Player (MVP) title with Sharks, before he ventured abroad signing for Ethiopian side Arba Minch. He returned to the country at the start of the year and traded the yellow and green of Sharks for the black and gold of Tusker.

The forward managed only paltry minutes when the two sides played in the first leg, as he had just started training after months of inactivity.

On Saturday afternoon, he faces Sharks in good form, having picked up fitness with eight goals and two assists to his name thus far in the season.

“It will be a special meeting because that is the team that gave me a platform to play in the Premier League. I owe a lot to them and I am looking forward to a tough match. Our ambition though as a team is to go out there and clinch three points,” Kapaito said.

The Striker will have two battlefronts going into the match, battling for the FKF PL golden boot as well as helping his side give a chase for the league title. Kapaito is three goals shy of top scorer Benson Omalla of Gor Mahia, while Tusker are seven points behind K’Ogalo in the league.

A win for Tusker will be crucial especially if Gor drop points against Homeboyz when they face off in the late kick off at the same venue.

The brewers come into the tie with their broken hearts still fresh from their FKF Cup exit after defeat to Kakamega Homeboyz last weekend in Kisumu.

“It was painful for us as a team because at Tusker, every game and every trophy is important for us. But that is behind our backs now and the focus is on ensuring we get maximum points in our next match. Ours is just to win our games then we see what happens with the rest of the teams,” the striker noted.

The two teams drew 1-1 when they met in the first leg at Ruaraka.
