NAIROBI, Kenya, Jul 4 – President William Ruto is currently chairing a Cabinet Meeting, the first after declining to sign the Finance Bill 2024 that sparked protests.
On Sunday, President Ruto admitted that his cabinet ought to have done more in unpackaging the 2024 finance bill, even as he regretted that his communication team had failed in sensitizing Kenyans in the weeks leading to the voting on the bill by lawmakers in parliament.
“We did not explain ourselves better, I am sure my communications team failed, and our communication architecture did not deliver. The message did not get out to the people,” he said.
“Communication and messaging has been one area that my administration has not been successful on but I promise that will change,” he said.
The head of state had to ensure that his cabinet delivers moving forward, with talks of a possible shake-up in the country’s highest governing body.
This even as pressure mounts on President Ruto to scrap offices deemed by Kenyans as unnecessary including the office of the first and second lady as well as the spouse to the prime cabinet secretary.
