Third Edition of Nairobi Relay Marathon set for May

NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 14 – The 2023 Nairobi Marathon Relay will be held May 6, at the Marist University grounds in Karen, Nairobi.

The event, which is in its third edition, is expected to attract over 50 teams of six runners, competing on a full 42-Kilometer marathon course in a relay format, with each runner covering seven kilometers.

Speaking during the announcement, David Thuo the founder of the event said;

“We are excited to host the third edition of the Nairobi Marathon relay at the Marist University grounds, Karen. This year we have managed to register 50 teams, up from the 40 that participated in the second edition, and the 22 teams that ran in the first edition in 2021. It is a true testament of the growing popularity of the event.”

The Nairobi relay marathon mainly attracts recreational, amateur and semi-professional runners offers a unique experience of running a full marathon in teams, offering both excitement and an increased sense of competition.

The event is also an initiative in support of the Nairobi Support Services Organisation, an institution that helps with rehabilitation of children with various disabilities.

So far, the event has managed to attract sponsorship from SBM Bank, with more corporates expected to come on board in the near future.

The organization is aimed at helping individuals, corporates and the recreational running community get the best value in sports activity through various offerings.
