NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 22 – Lamu County Commissioner Louis Rono has died following an illness.
Confirming his demise, Interior Cabinet secretary Kindiki Kithure commended Rono who passed away Thursday for his pivotal role in securing the Boni Enclave that has suffered the brunt of terror attacks from the Al-Qaeda linked terrorist outfit Al-Shabaab.
Condoling with Rono’s family and friends Kindiki praised the late commissioner for his 28 years of unwavering service to the nation, characterized by patriotism and dedication without blemish.
“The Late Rono served with distinction in various ranks and stations throughout his career and will be remembered for leading the Lamu County Security and Intelligence Team in sustaining the war against terror in the Boni Enclave,” he said.
Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo, in his tribute, hailed Rono as an industrious and committed National Government Administrative Officer (NGAO).
Omollo noted that Rono would be remembered for his altruism in serving others and the nation.
“Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends during this difficult time,” said Omollo.
