Kisii Police commander says GSU officers unaware Arati operates from Gusii stadium

KISII, Kenya, Oct 30 – Kisii County police commander Charles Kasses has come out to clarify the presence and intention of the GSU officers at the office of governor Simba Arati’s offices today morning.

Speaking at the DCI offices at Kisii central when Arati went to record a statement, Kasses said the GSU officers were new in town as they were drawn from different parts of the county for reinforcement in the region.

“The officers went to Gusii stadium to relax as they were conducting an operation, they were not aware the governor operates his offices from the stadium,” said Kasses.

The commander said there was no intention whatsoever to intimidate or harm the governor and the GSU officers are innocent people who came and didn’t know the governor’s office is located at Gusii stadium.

He further said, in the recent few weeks there has been an issue of insecurity and boda boda people reported their motorbikes were being taken away by the boda boda officials whose office is located in the county government.

The police officers are conducting investigations over the boda boda office which was closed down following the public outcry pointing out, the said office was like a torture house.

“Be rest assured the county is safe, we are here to help you manage your objective as a governor,” said Kasses.

While making a report Arati said at 8:00 am,he received a call in the morning that his offices were being raided by GSU officers, this is when I came to see what was happening.

“The GSU officers were stationed in a special arrangement and were in pairs and others stationed on the entrance of my office,” Arati stated.

The governor said he has received intel that the officers are planning to raid his village home in Motonto.

Arati said south Mugirango MP made remarks on social media that today there could be a heavy presence of GSU officers at Gusii stadium.

The Governor’s lawyer George Morara said when he tried to inquire from some officers what they were doing at the governor’s office they said they had no idea.

“Why would the officers choose to relax at Gusii stadium which is under construction. there are many places to relax including rooms, why choose the stadium, questioned Zelmer Bonuke

Arati recorded a statement and he was given an OB.
