NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 29-Trade and Investment Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano held a meeting with his Japanese Counterpart Yasutoshi Nishimura where they signed to Initiate Industrial Policy Dialogue (IPD).
The Japan-Kenya bilateral meeting was held on the sidelines of the Outreach Session of the G7 Trade Ministers’ Meeting to be held in Sakai, Osaka, Japan.
The two ministers agreed that Kenya and Japan will work to mutually support their vision of a prosperous, sustainable world driven by trade and investment.
“We have inked a joint statement, launching the Japan industry policy dialogue to further boost collaboration,” Miano said.
The IPD will indicate the direction of industrial collaboration that will contribute to strengthening economic relations between Kenya and Japan.
It will provide an avenue for identifying and discussing cooperation areas that may become points of discussion in the future and support the mutually beneficial relationship between Kenya and Japan.
CS Miano observed that globally, Africa features favorably as the next frontier for investments and Kenya stood strategically for Japan as a reliable partner, to manufacture for the African continent and the world in general.
The IPD will go a long way in helping the two countries prioritize their investments with the two ministers agreeing to regularly engage and continue to champion the cause for investments, trade, and industry for the mutual benefit of the two countries.
Accompanying the Cabinet Secretary were Principal Secretary for Industry Juma Mukhwana, Principal Secretary State Department for Trade Alfred Ombudo K’Ombudo, and Amb. Tabu Irina, Kenya’s Ambassador to Japan.
