NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 12 – Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has urged President Ruto to hold talks with Azimio Coalition leader Raila Odinga saying nothing cannot be solved after engaging in talks.
Speaking on Sunday, Sakaja explained that the economy was bad enough and protests will further hurt Kenyans.
“Demonstrations will not help solve any problems. I ask President Ruto to reason with the Azimio coalition to solve this issue. Those advising the president from having talks are misleading him. This does not however mean that we will have a handshake. No one wants that,” he said.
“There is nothing that we can not sort out. We are one country, not a country of two people
The president is accommodative and willing to work with the opposition,” he stated.
The Governor further said that his party leader, President Ruto was a man full of wisdom.
However, he said that some leaders were misguiding the head of state not to reach out to the opposition.
“I’m glad that the president has a lot of wisdom and I’m sure he will do the right thing because yeye ndio baba yetu lazima atushikilie sisi sote,” Sakaja added.
He described Ruto as accommodative, willing to work with all regions, and even work for those who voted for him and those that didn’t.
Sakaja however assured residents of Nairobi that they will be protected in the upcoming planned demonstration.
He said that the planned Azimio la Umoja coalition protest has been a concern to major residents.
“When you listen to the people of Nairobi, there is a great concern because of the upcoming demonstrations. I want to assure the people of Nairobi that we shall protect them. When Nairobi stops working the whole country is affected,” Sakaja said.
