Gor Mahia Claws AFC Leopards In Mashemeji Derby To Go Six Points Clear

NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 26 – A last-minute goal propelled record champions Gor Mahia to a 1-0 win over bitter rivals AFC Leopards in a ‘Mashemeji’ Derby staged at a full-capacity Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday evening.

Captain Alpha Onyango fired Gor into the much-needed win in the 85th minute after being set up by left-back Bryton Onyona from a half-cleared corner.

The win ensured Gor opened a six-point lead at the top of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League, firmly staying on track to reclaim the title from Police FC.

AFC remains second with 55 points with only three games to play before the 2025/26 season comes to an end.

This was a sweet revenge for K’Ogalo who lost by the same margin (1-0) in the first-leg where Ingwe were the visitors at the Moi International Sports Center Kasarani on December 7, 2025.
