NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 3 – Kenya Lionesses head coach Kevin Wambua has spoken about his side’s performance at the Dubai Sevens where they played in the Women’s International Invitational Category.
Speaking after his side’s 10-17 loss to Tribe Sevens in the bronze medal match on Friday, Wambua said, “ Of course we are gutted.”
“We need to be a lot more consistent in terms of results and our focus moving forward is geared towards developing a winning mentality amongst the team,” Wambua said.
“It’s evident that we dominated possession and territory but simply lacked the killer instinct, we need to finish off matches. This however will only come with more exposure…we’d like a scenario where we are playing four to six tournaments a season,” he added.
The Lionesses try scorers in the bronze medal match were Irene Otieno and Sheila Chagira. The team returns to Nairobi on Sunday afternoon.
