MANCHESTER, October 24- Manchester United have confirmed that former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes will train at Carrington as he continues to recover a serious knee injury.
The shot stopper has been sidelined since March when he suffered cruciate ligament damage, ruling him out of Spain’s failed World Cup title defence in Brazil earlier this year.
Valdes, who is currently a free agent, is now set to complete his rehabilitation with the Red Devils, although it is still unclear whether the Premier League giants will offer the 32-year-old any kind of deal.
A United statement read: “Valdes will have his recovery supervised by the United medical staff before training with the first team, as he bids to regain full fitness.”
Old Trafford already has a first-choice keeper in David de Gea, while Anders Lindegaard is a more than reliable understudy, although the experience of Valdes is something United manager Louis van Gaal may wish to call on during the campaign.
