HAMMAMET, Tunisia, Jun 25 – The second edition of the Africa Beach Games enters day two in Hammamet, Tunisia, with the men and women’s handball teams as well as the sprint rowers getting into the thick of things.
The women’s handball team will have two matches, and a win in both will guarantee them in the least a silver medal, with only a showdown against hosts Tunisia remaining on Monday.
The rowing team will get the day rolling at 8:40am local time (10:40am EAT), with Harrison Malenga taking on an Algerian opponent in the first speed trial, before Diana Natecho takes on a Nigerian opponent in the women’s event.
The women’s handball team will take on Mali at 11am EAT (9am local time) and a win in this duel will guarantee them a place on the podium. They will then play Uganda at 3:20pm local time (5:20pm EAT) and a win in this duel will guarantee them at least a silver medal.
Their men’s counterparts will have one game, playing Algeria at noon and a win will see them firm up a place in the semi-finals. A defeat, after losing their opening match on Saturday will see them bow out of the competition.
The rowing team of Natecho and Malenga will wind up the day, with the mixed doubles event at 5pm local time (7pm EAT).
