NAIROBI, Kenya Feb 17 – The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has announced plans to train examiners for the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
The training, scheduled between March and April 2026, will use a blended approach, combining online learning with mandatory residential sessions.
KNEC stated that only shortlisted applicants will be required to pay a training fee of KSh10,500. Successful candidates will receive payment instructions via SMS and through the examiners’ application portal.
“The training fee is Kenya Shillings Ten Thousand Five Hundred (KSh10,500.00) and will only be paid by the shortlisted applicants who will be notified on how to make payments through a text message (SMS) and via the application portal,” the council said.
The programme will be delivered through a blended approach, combining online learning with residential training. Trainees will be guided on how to access online study materials. KNEC noted that the residential component will be strictly mandatory, with the venue to be communicated later to those shortlisted.
To qualify, applicants must be practising teachers or tutors in the relevant subject areas and must be registered and/or employed by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) or the Public Service Commission (PSC). They must hold at least a Diploma in Education, have a minimum of three years’ teaching experience, and be aged 50 years or below.
Applicants must also not have faced interdiction or any disciplinary action by the TSC and must be recommended by their Head of Institution.
For KJSEA, available papers include English Composition and Literary Analysis, Kiswahili, Mathematics, Kenya Sign Language, Integrated Science, Agriculture, Social Studies, Christian Religious Education, Islamic Religious Education, Creative Arts and Sports, and Pre-Technical Studies.
For KCSE, available subjects include Kiswahili Insha, Kiswahili Lugha, Kiswahili Fasihi, Mathematics, Islamic Religious Education, Home Science, Computer Studies Practical, French, German, and Arabic (listening comprehension and dictation, grammar, reading comprehension, and composition).
Interested teachers are required to apply through the KNEC examiners’ portal at https://examinersapp.knec.ac.ke.
Applicants with CP2 accounts can log in using their existing usernames and passwords. Those who have forgotten their passwords should use the reset option, enter their mobile number beginning with 254, and follow the prompts to receive new login details. Teachers without CP2 accounts are required to create an account and follow the system prompts to obtain their credentials.
After logging in, applicants should click on “Apply for Training,” where all declared vacancies will be listed for selection.
KNEC emphasised that training slots are limited and that only qualified teachers who submit all required documents will be shortlisted on a first-come, first-served basis.
