NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 6 – The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced the temporary closure of the North Horr – Kalacha (B75) Road in Marsabit due to flooding.
KeNHA stated on Saturday that heavy rains in Marsabit and the Ethiopian Highlands had led to flooding in the area, necessitating the closure.
The Authority urged all motorists and road users to exercise patience until the rains subside.
“The flow of traffic will only be allowed after a proper assessment,” KeNHA said.
KeNHA assured that efforts are underway to repair any damaged sections of the road through the recently awarded Routine Maintenance and Spot Improvement Contract.
The announcement follows a flooding alert issued for the Mororo Area on the Nairobi – Garissa Road, caused by rising water levels at the Tana River Bridge due to ongoing rainfall.
KeNHA cautioned that continuous rainfall may lead to further water rise, potentially affecting other road sections previously damaged.
Motorists were advised to be cautious when approaching Madogo, Konapunda, and Mororo sections of the A3 Road to Garissa.
Similar road closure alerts are anticipated in other parts of the country as the rainy season continues.
