NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 1- An Jubilee Party official has come out to deny claims that the former ruling party relocated from its seven-storey headquarters in Pangani because it is broke.
This comes as Kenyans took to social media to react to Secretary-General Jeremiah Kioni’s statement indicating that Jubilee Party’s new offices will be hosted at Kileleshwa.
The official told Capital FM News that the decision to shift from their commercial complex offices in Pangani is because they no longer needed the vast office space.
“You see we are not broke, the building was too big and empty for the most part, especially after the temporary election staff left,” read a message from the party official.
Jubilee party has been a tenant in the seven-storey commercial complex since 2016, a year ahead of the 2017 General Election.
The headquarters was the party’s nerve centre in the last polls and houses offices crucial to its operations.
The party also clarified that their relocation is not linked to a 2022 plan to auction the Pangani building by Garam Investment Auctioneers.
“Plus the landlady has issues with her bankers as am probably sure you have seen,” the Party Communication stated.
