Governor Arati wants CS Kindiki to probe violence between UDA, Azimio supporters

KISII, Kenya, Feb 19 – Kisii Governor Simba Arati has asked Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki to probe yesterday’s attack Kisii town whereby four people were injured in a political clash.

The attack comes after Boda Boda riders affiliated to UDA held peaceful protests in Kisii town when Azimio youths attacked them and started belting them when stones.

This is when the UDA riders responded and in return at least ten people from Azimio group were injured and were hospitalised at Kisii teaching and reffaral.

Speaking at KTRH Kisii Governor Simba Arati when he paid a visit to Azimio youth,he condemn the attack and asked CS Kindiki to probe the matter with immediate effect.

Also one police officer was injured during the incident as the police from central police station intervened to bring order.

One officer was injured in the back with a stone during the incident.

“The ring leader in this attack is one Fred Nunda who has warrants of arrest and he is protected by the state,”Said Arati.

Arati pointed out Fred Nunda, a self proclaimed Boda Boda chairman for leading the attacks on the Azimio group and asked security agencies to arrest him .

Arati said that the Pro Kenya Kwanza youth were protected by the police as they executed the mayhem.

“If the government will not take action, said Arati, then he will personally take charge and ensure the lives of the residents and their property are protected,”Said Arati.

Nunda, separately denied the charge and instead accused the Azimio faction of engaging them during a peaceful protest.

He said he was optimistic Kindiki was up to the task to end the attacks between the two political factions.

” I will do everything in my power to ensure such madness is addressed once and for all,” said the Governor.

Dr Marita Atebe, at KTRH said the one of the ten injured in the clashes may require to be transferred depending on the response by today.

The clashes has since been condemned by Azimio leader Raila Odinga during the Kisumu rally.
