NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 14 – Heavyweights Gor Mahia displayed the character of a champion at the Moi International Sports Center Kasarani after coming two goals down to edge out Murang’a Seal 3-2 in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League to displace bitter rivals AFC Leopards at the top of the table.
Visitors Murang’a took a comfortable 2-0 lead at the break after Joe Waithira found the back of the net after four minutes of play, before Memusi doubled in the 18th minute.
The half-time pep talk by head coach Charles Akonnor seemed to have paid off after K’Ogalo injected power immediately after the restart, netting two quick goals between the 47th and 49th minute to level the scores at 2-2.
Coach Akonnor breathed a sigh of relief in the 82nd minute thanks to a winner to ensure Gor bounced back to winning ways and go level on points (30) with AFC Leopards, though with a superior one-goal difference.
