NAIROBI, Kenya, Sep 25 – Harambee Starlets skipper Ruth Ingotsi has called on fans to turn out in large numbers as they take on Cameroon in the second leg of their first round Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has announced that entrance to Tuesday afternoon’s match will be free of charge and Ingotsi wants to see fans in large numbers at the Nyayo National Stadium.
“I would like to ask fans to turn out in large numbers and support us. We know it is a weekday but we can still get some good support. We will do our best at home to ensure we get the best result for them and the country,” Ingotsi said as she looks forward to the duel.
Starlets trail 1-0 to the Indomitable Lionesses from the first leg played in Douala on Friday and need a win of more than two goals to advance to the next round.
Ingotsi says the players are ready to put on their best foot forward and try battle for a second qualification to the Women’s Cup of Nations.
“It will be a tough match but we are ready. We have trained well and mentally we are okayt. We will do our best at home to ensure that we win and get that qualification to the next round. We hope we will be lucky and we get the needed goals,” said the defender.
Starlets jetted back to the country Sunday night and had their last light session at the Nyayo Stadium on Monday before Tuesday afternoon’s battle.
