NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 4 – Medics under the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Union (KMPDU) on Monday held a peaceful protest at the Ministry of Health offices to push for the posting of medical interns among other issues.
The medics who began there procession at the Kenya Medical Association (KMA) Centre in Upper Hill are expected to present petitions presented to the Ministry of Health, Council of Governors, Parliament, Public Service Commission, the Treasury and the Ministry of Interior.
The health workers also want the Government to act on the recent alleged assault on Kenya Medical Professional and Practitioners Union Secretary General Davji Atellah on Thursday last week,
The Kenya Union of Clinical Officers and the Kenya National Union of Nurses last week had given the government until Friday to communicate on the way forward regarding the issue of Universal Health Coverage staff.
The union said the one-year period agreed upon to have the staff absorbed on permanent and pensionable terms is fast approaching.
