NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 14 – Energy Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir has announced that Kenya has reached a deal with Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to supply Kenya with diesel and super for the next six months, while Abu Dhabi National Oil Company will deliver three cargoes of super petrol every month.
The deal which was sealed on Friday following an earlier government floated a tender seeking bids for the supply of diesel and super petrol products had attracted seven bids from different companies.
Chirchir says the deal will ease the pressure on the Kenyan government, which has been facing a shortage of oil products due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Kenyan government has been pushing for more Government to Government deals with other countries to ensure a steady supply of oil products and stabilize fuel prices in the domestic market.
