Out of the woods? Gor, Nairobi United face possible sanctions for abandoned Premier League fixture

NAIROBI, Kenya, January 30, 2026 – Football Kenya Federation (FKF) have referred two abandoned Kenya Premier League fixtures to its disciplinary committee.

In a statement, the federation said two fixtures, Gor Mahia vs Nairobi United as well as Ulinzi Stars v Murang’a Seal, will be deliberated by the committee for further action.

“The FKF Leagues and Competitions Committee (LCC) has concluded its deliberations on two abandoned SportPesa League fixtures and issued the following rulings,” FKF said.

The two fixtures were earlier deliberated by FKF’s League and Competitions Committee (LCC).

Concerning the Gor v Nairobi United tie, LCC had ruled that the game had ended in a 1-1 draw.

However, both sides are not out of the woods, with the case now referred to the disciplinary committee, which may decree punitive actions on either of them.

“Matters relating to misconduct during the match have been referred to the FKF Disciplinary Committee for further action where applicable,” the federation said.

The match, held on December 21, was called off in the 58th minute, following crowd trouble in the aftermath of Naibois’ equaliser.

On the other hand, LCC awarded a 2-0 victory to Murang’a Seal after the soldiers refused to resume play at the tail-end of the fixture.

“The Committee determined that the match was abandoned following Ulinzi Stars FC’s refusal to resume play. As per the FKF Rules and Regulations, the match has been awarded to Murang’a SEAL FC, with the official result recorded as Ulinzi Stars FC 0–2 Murang’a SEAL FC,” the federation said.

They added: “The case has been forwarded to the FKF Disciplinary Committee and the Referees Committee for further consideration of applicable sanctions.”

The match ended 2-1 in favour of Murang’a, courtesy of Joe Waithira’s double, after Stephen Ochieng’s charges had taken the lead through Paul Okoth in the first half.
