MURANG’A, Kenya, Sep 10 – Patrick Ngetich emerged the winner of the 2016 UAP Old Mutual Ndakaini Half Marathon in Ndakaini, Muranga County on Saturday.
Ngetich, winner of the 2015 Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon 21km clocked 63:00 to claim victory in the men’s event.
Franlin Ng’elel of Iten was second 64.05 while three consecutive team titles winner with Kenya at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships West Pokot’s Hose Machariyang completed the last podium finish in 66.08.
“I’m also looking forward to taking part in next year’s World Cross Country Championships in Uganda before plotting for the World Athletics Championships in London,” Ngetich, who is also winner of the Kisii Half Marathon, said after the victory.
In the women’s 21km race, last year’s seventh place finisher Brigid Kosgei of Nike Running Club, Eldoret, improved on her previous placing to win in 1:6:09.
Kogei said she is gearing up for the Rock and Roll Marathon in Lisbon, Portugal on October 2.
The Eldoret based Marion Limo, 25, was second in I17:03 in the hilly terrain annual run as Sally Chemtai was third in 1:21.51.
