Douglas Kanja sworn in as NPS Inspector General

NAIROBI, Kenya, Sep 19 – Douglas Kanja has been sworn in as the Inspector General of the National Police Service.

The swearing in ceremony took place at the Supreme Court in Nairobi Thursday.

His swearing in came after President William Ruto appointed him as the next IG.
the National Police Service(NPS).

Kanja takes over from Japhet Koome who resigned in July.

Kanja will serve in the role for four years.

“I William Ruto appoint Douglas Kanja Kirocho to be the Inspector General of the National Police Service for a term of 4 years,” read a gazette notice obtained by Capital News.

Deputy Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli has been serving in the position in the acting capacity.

The appointment follows approval by the National Assembly on Wednesday.
