DCI officers arrest 3 kidnap suspects in Meru, victim rescued alive

NAIROBI, Kenya, Jul  4 – Agents drawn from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations last evening arrested three suspects behind a kidnapping incident reported in Meru.

The three who had demanded a Sh150,000 ransom were captured following an intelligence-led operation within Kiutune area of Igembe Central Sub-County.

The suspects, all aged below 30 years, were arrested at Njuri Ncheke forest in Mpinda village where their escape plan failed after being sighted by members of the public.

“The officers zeroed in Njuri Ncheke forest in Mpinda village where three suspicious individuals were sighted where they attempted to escape but were arrested with the help of members of the public,” the DCI tweeted.

Upon interrogation, the suspects then led officers to the location where the victim had been held for 14 days.

The victim who was recused alive was taken for medical checkup with the suspects detained for interrogation ahead of their arraignment in court.

“The victim was taken for medical check and suspects are in lawful custody as several items that were recovered from the scene were kept as exhibits,” DCI elaborated.
