Nairobi, Kenya, Mar 30 – Security agencies have seized 4 illegal fire arms and 15 camels in West Pokot and Samburu counties.
The recovery came following an ongoing operation by a multi-agency security team conducting ‘Operation Maliza Uhalifu North Rift’
“One G-3 rifle was recovered at Amoler Location in Pokot Central Sub- County, while three other rifles which included an AK-47, M-16 and a Carabine MK-1 were recovered at Latakweny Village in Samburu North Sub-County,” the National Police Service (NPS)
Police say the recovered the 15 camels after subduing bandits who has stolen the animals at Sulubei Grazing Fields.
The animals were positively identified and handed over to the owners.
The NPS lauded the local communities for their support in the ongoing security operation to eradicate bandits who have wreaked havoc in the region for decades.
They appealed to any individual in possession of an illegal firearm to immediately surrender to security agencies.
Currently the operation is being led by police who are backed up by officers drawn from the Kenya Defence Forces.
