The sugar millers, who lead the National Sevens Circuit standings with 41 points, began the day on the worst possible footing as Ramadhan Masete scored a brace for the deejays whereas Brian Mutua added a third.
However, Jones Kubu, Lameck Ambetsa and Dan Angwech came to the rescue of Kabras with a try each as Eric Cantona scored two conversions.
In the other tie of Pool A, Western Bulls upset Kisumu RFC 14-12 thanks to tries from Nickson Manduku and Anthony Oduor after Washington Ochieng and Walter Ambe had touched down for the lakeside.
