Kenya whitewash hapless Denmark

NAIROBI, Kenya, April 8 – Elijah Otieno took three wickets as Kenya beat Denmark by nine wickets in their final Pool B match of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Cricket World Cup qualifiers on Wednesday.TIKOLOMan of the match Kennedy Otieno spearheaded Kenya’s victory with a score of 84 not out to help the 2003 world cup finalists reach their paltry target of 174 in 34 overs.

Mickey Lund was the Danes top scorer with 45, the shining light in what was a mediocre batting performance by the Europeans who ended their group assignments without a win.

Kenya won the toss and decided to field first which reaped dividends in the end as Otieno reveled at the forefront of his side’s bowling attack taking the wickets of Carsten Pedersen (0), Frederik Klokker (14) and Henrik Hansen (18).

Lund fell to Kenya captain Steve Tikolo while Michael Pedersen and Rizwan Mahmood were run out by Alex Obanda and Hiren Varaiya respectively.

Maurice Ouma (24) who was dispatched by Morten Andersen had a good outing in the outfield taking four catches as the Danish batting order wilted at the Fanie du Toit Sports Complex in Potchefstroom.

Seren Waters had a good day with the bat knocking 61 runs off 82 balls.
