NAIROBI, Kenya Apr 2 – George Oduor, a longtime aide and bodyguard to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, has died.
Oduor passed away at Nairobi West Hospital after a two-week admission.
He was a familiar figure alongside Odinga at political events and public engagements.
“It is true George has rested,” a close associate of Odinga told Capital FM News.
Oduor had been part of Odinga’s inner circle since the 1990s, reportedly joining his security team after the death of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga in 1994.
He was known as the most visible member of Odinga’s security detail, having undergone VIP protection training both locally and internationally.
“You were more than an aide to Baba. You offered us brotherly advice and sought to mentor us,” Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai said in tribute.
Oduor, who was also said to be a police reservist, featured in numerous historical moments captured on social media.
