NEW Delhi, India Dec 7 – Kenyan President William Samoei Ruto expressed his appreciation for India’s unwavering support for including the African Union as a permanent member of the G20 during his state visit to New Delhi.
President Ruto also commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his leadership role in the global south’s geopolitical landscape.
Addressing a banquet hosted in his honor at Rashtrapati Bhavan by President Droupadi Murmu, President Ruto praised the strong bilateral relationship between India and Kenya and the lasting benefits it will bring to future generations. He emphasized the importance of dependable partnerships and friends in the face of the world’s constant turmoil.
President Ruto stated, “Every sector is sailing in this epic quest today. We have affirmed that while Kenya and India enjoy a proud history of successful friendship, what we can achieve in the future, given our shared values as well as our shared commitment, is far greater and will endure for the benefit of generations now and generations to come.”
Highlighting India’s leadership and role as an exemplary partner, he noted the increasing complexity of global crises and the need for robust mechanisms to secure confidence in the future. President Ruto celebrated the historical ties, trade, and friendship that unite Kenya and India, emphasizing their shared values of freedom, enterprise, and peaceful progress within a robust democracy.
President Droupadi Murmu welcomed her Kenyan counterpart to Rashtrapati Bhavan and highlighted the historical connection between India and Kenya through the waters of the Indian Ocean. She underlined the maturation of their friendship into a robust bilateral relationship marked by significant collaboration in various sectors, including trade, education, and technology.
During his visit, President Ruto paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at his memorial at Rajghat and received a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan. He inspected a Guard of Honour and held discussions with President Murmu and Prime Minister Modi, reinforcing the strong ties between Kenya and India on various fronts.
President Ruto’s visit underscores the deepening relations between the two nations and their shared commitment to addressing global challenges and fostering a mutually beneficial partnership in the years to come.
