Magical Maggy Goes International: Margaret Kunihira Nominated for Prestigious Jean Sseninde LFA Award

NAIROBI, Kenya, May 22, 2026 – The incredible season of Kenya Police Bullets winger Margaret Kunihira has officially crossed borders.

Just days after steering her club to a historic third consecutive league title, the Ugandan international has been nominated for the prestigious Jean Sseninde Award for LFA International Excellence (Women).

The nomination caps off a truly magical individual campaign for the forward, who has proudly flown the Kenya Police Bullets flag high all season on her way to becoming the absolute benchmark of domestic women’s football.

Kunihira’s inclusion on the international award shortlist comes on the heels of an absolutely dominant statistical season in the FKF Women’s Premier League (WPL).

The winger swept the individual accolades after registering 16 Goals, securing the coveted WPL Golden Boot and 9 assists as she led the league in goal creation.

She also got the MVP honors as she was officially named the league’s Most Valuable Player.

Her clinical finishing and playmaker vision were the dual engines behind Coach David Vigajo’s debut-season success, making her the obvious choice for international recognition.

Named after legendary Ugandan structural pioneer and former Queens Park Rangers and Charlton Athletic defender Jean Sseninde, the LFA International Excellence Award celebrates African women footballers who demonstrate elite performance, professionalism, and inspiration across the continent.

For Kunihira, being shortlisted is a massive nod to her seamless transition into the Kenyan game and her status as one of East Africa’s brightest rising stars.

With the nomination officially live, the Kenya Police Bullets management has issued a passionate rallying cry to football fans across Kenya and East Africa to vote and rally behind their star talisman.

As the Bullets prepare to embark on their continental journey in the CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers, securing this international accolade would give “Magical Maggy” the perfect wind in her sails to conquer Africa next.
