MACHAKOS, April 13- The finals of the Milo 2015 Primary School Ball Games and gymnastics kicked off Monday in Machakos.
The three-day event will culminate Wednesday at the Machakos Teacher’s Training College and Machakos Academy venues.
In the opening football boys’ match, defending champions Lake Region (Nyanza) beat from Northern (Garissa) 3-0 with standard seven Nyamerako Primary pupil Clinton Nyakwebe notching his brace as Tobias Ooko of Lianda Primary netted the third.
Nzoia region (Western) beat Aberdare (Central) 3-0 in an enthralling encounter reminiscence of last year’s semi between the two in the boy’s category.
In another Pool B boys match, beaten finalists Metropolitan hammered Highland (Eastern Province) 6-1.
John Chul opened the scoring before Steve Kagai from Moi Avenue Primary sunk a brace for the next couple of goals to give the winners a 3-0 first half lead.
Paul Maina, Erick Sifa and David Jumange got into the goal hunt after the breather to seal the rout with Emmanuel Apem registering the scant consolation for the hapless Highland.
Titleholders Lake Region football girls beat Aberdares by 2-0 to start their defence emphatically with the other match in the category between Mau and Highland ending in a barren stalemate.
In Handball Metropolitan beat Mau 16-14 in the girls as Nzoia handed Aberdares a 24-5 whipping as Mau edged out Coast 24-21 in the corresponding boys’ category.
Defending boys’ volleyball champions, Mau silenced Northern 3-0 with Nzoia handing Metropolitian a similar beating in Pool A of the tournament.
In a repeat of last year’s decider in boys’ Netball, champions Lake outclassed Aberdares 32-5 with Nzoia prevailing over Highland 18-3.
