Saudi Arabia to Use Kenya as a Gateway into Africa, Says Crown Prince

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, Oct 24 – Saudia Arabia is set to use Kenya as a strategic entry point into Africa.

Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman who met President William Ruto on Tuesday said Kenya is a cornerstone of stability and growth on the continent.

He emphasized the importance of Kenya and its future prospects, stating, “We have to pay closer attention to it; it is a country with a future.”

Speaking during a meeting with President William Ruto on Tuesday, the Crown Prince noted that Saudi Arabia is committed to increasing its investments in Kenya, with a particular focus on the renewable energy sector.

These remarks were made during discussions held at the King Abdul Aziz International Conference Centre in Riyadh between Bin Salman and Kenyan President William Ruto.

President Ruto acknowledged the progress made in economic growth, regional cooperation, and democratization across Africa. However, he expressed concern about ongoing challenges such as insecurity, violence, and terrorism, calling for international cooperation to address these issues.

Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman echoed the need for regional stability in East Africa and the Red Sea, underlining the importance of Kenya’s success for the entire continent.

In a separate meeting, President Ruto discussed strategies for enhancing farming in Kenya with PepsiCo’s CEO for Africa, Middle East, and South Asia, Eugene Willemsen, with a focus on irrigation-fed agriculture and economic opportunities for the country’s youth.

“We definitely need security in East Africa and the Red Sea. If Kenya is a success, then Africa is,” the Crown Prince said.
