Kenya to Host 54 Trade Ministers Meeting for Second Time in Over a Month

NAIROBI, Kenya, Jul 4 – Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade and Industry Moses Kenya has said that Kenya will host the 54th African Trade Ministers Meeting for a second time in just over a month’s time.

In a statement on Tuesday, Kuria said that the meeting reaffirms Nairobi’s position as the leading choice venue for Africa’s Trade and Investment Conversation.

“Kenya’s capital city, Nairobi, with its vibrant business ecosystem and excellent infrastructure, has emerged as a preferred destination for major international conferences,” he said.

“Its strategic location and reputation for hosting successful events further enhance its appeal as a meeting point for Africa’s trade and investment stakeholders.”

Kuria added that the two-day meeting is scheduled to take place from Wednesday 12th July to Thursday 13 th July, under the auspices of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

The forthcoming meeting will concentrate on important subjects including the definitions of origin for textiles and automobiles, as well as the constantly changing field of digital trade.

These discussions are essential for facilitating smooth intra-African trade and fostering a climate that allows companies to flourish internationally.

“The 54 Trade Ministers Meeting in Nairobi represents a significant opportunity for African nations to collaborate, strengthen regional integration efforts, and advance the economic prosperity of the continent,” he said.

“Kenya, in partnership with AfCFTA, is committed to fostering an environment conducive to robust trade relationships and sustainable economic development.”

The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) is a landmark agreement targeting 54 African countries with the aim of creating the world’s largest single market.

AfCFTA seeks to promote economic integration, enhance competitiveness, and foster sustainable development across the African continent.
