DP Gachagua calls for dismissal of Chiefs found drinking during his visit

NAIROBI, Kenya Jul 9 – Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has called for the immediate dismissal of any national government administration officer found drinking while on duty.

Speaking to Tumutumu, the DP tasked the area County commissioners with the responsibility of foreseeing the arrest of an administrator who was found drinking when he visited the region and when he was supposed to be on duty.

Gachagua castigated such officers who he accused of tainting the image of other administrators and leaders by drinking alcohol in broad daylight.

He made the remarks after he received reports that a certain chief was allegedly spotted drinking at a local pub during his visit to Mathira constituency, Nyeri County.

“We will not allow chiefs to be drinking when they are supposed to be on duty,” the DP said, “such chiefs must be dismissed.”

Gachagua has been spearheading a push to curb alcohol and substance abuse, especially among the youth, in the Mount Kenya region.
