KISII, Kenya, Dec 19 – Kisii Governor James Ongwae Thursday led political leaders and elders’ councils from Kisii and Nyamira counties in urging Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi to stand for presidency come 2022.

Speaking at Kisii, the leaders resolved to champion for Matiangi as the common candidate for the region come 2022.

“We are ready for the presidency and we have volunteered our son to run for the seat,” Ogwae remarked.

Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama said it was time for one of their own to seek the top seat, adding nothing will stop their quest.

“We have come together as a community and decided to back Dr Matiangi and Kenyans will support him too,” said Nyagarama.

James Matundura, a member of the elders’ council, said nobody in the region should be left behind.

Nyaribari Masaba MP Ezekiel Machogu said the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report will help Kenyans greatly and asked them to support it.

Kisii Senator Sam Ongeri said the BBI report will put the country on the right development trajectory.
