NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 30 – A senior police officer was on Wednesday morning shot dead during a carjacking incident within Kayole in Nairobi.
A police report seen by Capital FM News identified the slain officer as Superintendent Eston Ndwiga who is based at Police Headquarters.
The report says the officer was driving to his home in Mihang’o when he was attacked by the gunmen who shot at him and fled.
Police say the officer’s body was found inside his vehicle that was next to another abandoned by the thugs after the carjacking went awry.
An investigation has been launched to establish the motive of the killing that occurred at about 3am, less than a kilometre from the slain officer’s home.
Elsewhere, gunmen shot and killed a man and injured his driver in an attack in Gathiga area, Kiambu County.
The deceased was shot in the chest and died while being attended to at hospital Wednesday morning.
The motive of the attack is yet to be established and no arrests have been made.
