NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 15 — The Public Accounts Committee chairman Nicholas Gumbo was on Tuesday morning expected to give progress report of their probe into the Sh791 million shilling fraud at the National Youth Service Integrated Finance Information Management System account.

The Committee will deliberate on whether to issue invitations to Farouk Kibet and Elgeyo Marakwet Senator and Senate Deputy Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen who are key allies of Deputy President William Ruto.

The PAC leadership is yet to decide whether to have them appear or make written submissions after former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru named them when she appeared before the Committee two weeks ago.

The former CS said the Senator visited her office and former Principal Secretary Peter Mangiti to lobby for the release of money held in the frozen accounts of his clients doing business with the NYS.

Kibet is alleged to have spoken on telephone to Ben Gethi, a key suspect in the fraud, at a time the siphoning of funds at the NYS was happening and he later received 1 million shillings from him, supposedly as a contribution for a harambee.
