Verminator ready to fumigate ‘deadly SAS’

THOMAS-VERMAELENLONDON, England, November 1- Thomas Vermaelen is confident Arsenal will be able to contain Liverpool’s deadly ‘SAS’ strike-force of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge.

The pair are the most potent in England at the moment, with 16 goals between them and are the main reason Liverpool have made such a good start to the season.

But with Arsenal sitting top of the Premier League table, Vermaelen is confident that they can get the better of Suarez and Sturridge as the two sides clash in this weekend’s Saturday Night Football.

“We know them from the past. We played a lot against Luis Suarez already, and of course I know him from my time in Ajax,” said Vermaelen, who himself is unlikely to feature against Liverpool after dropping behind Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker in the pecking order.

“Sturridge we played against last season. We know them both, they are playing well and quite dangerous. But now we need to keep going like we did the last couple of weeks.

Vermaelen insists that Tuesday’s League Cup defeat to Chelsea will not have a major impact on the them.

“We’ve had a lot of big games and a defeat shouldn’t take our confidence away,” he said.

“We need to build on the results we had previously. We have won more games than we lost.

“It’s disappointing but we have a big game on Saturday and I am quite confident we can win that game.

“It’s really important to respond quickly. It’s good the game is on Saturday, and we can respond to the defeat.

“We are top of the league. We should have a lot of confidence to beat Liverpool.”
