NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 28 — A new survey by Infotrak has projected confidence in the Kenya’s trajectory at 22 per cent with 15 per cent of respondents interviewed expressing doubt.
The survey released on Tuesday by Infotrak’s Johvine Wanyingo showed that 62 per cent of respondents opined that the country is headed the wrong direction while another 15 per cent were undecided.
Wanyingo said that the reasons given by the 22 per cent of those who are satisfied is that the country is peaceful and Kenyans are living in harmony.
Those who believe the country is headed the right direction also expressed confidence in President William Ruto’s administration. They further cited affordable cost of living.
Other reasons listed by the pollster are digitization of government services, roll out of the Hustler Fund, employment of additional teachers, improved healthcare and the President’s standing as a “Godfearing leader”.
The reasons given by the 62 per cent of respondents who expressed dissatisfaction with the country’s trajectory are high cost of living, increased taxation, unemployment, poor governance, drought, poverty and unequal distribution of resources.
Infotrak interviewed a total of 2,149 respondents between February 21 and 24.
The survey also ranked the performance of Ruto’s Cabinet as below average in the first 100 days.
Only the ministries of ICT and Roads scored above average registering 54 per cent and 50 per cent respectively in the study.
