How to survive this January after heavy Christmas, New Year spending

NAIROBI, Kenya Jan 4 – After a heavy festive season spending, January is heavy for most Kenyans, at least those with no disposable income.

Here are some of the best tips to help you survive this long month described by one hustler as “the longest month in the year.”

1: Avoid impulse buying for this can deteriorate your empty pocket even more.

2: Keep off bars as you may find yourself drinking what is remaining to boost youth through.

3; Accept your financial situation and prepare for another salary a month from now.

4. Tell your wife, partner or girlfriend your true financial position.

5. Stop pretending that you have money, you are broke and that is it.

6. Park your car and hop onto the train, Uber or matatu or a Nduthi if the situation is really worse but don’t walk to work you may lose your phone.

7. For gents, keep off the barber shop or else you incur another debt.

8. In the case of ladies, just learn to stay with your December hair and nails, they won’t notice unless you tell them.

9. Never miss your breakfast. Lunch is a luxury.

10.  You can also try intermittent fasting if you want to shade off some kilos.
