NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 21 — Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju was Thursday flown to the United Kingdom for specialized treatment following a road accident on Wednesday last week.

Speaking to Capital FM News on the phone, the party’s Communications Director Albert Memusi confirmed Tuju had been flown out Thursday morning following a decision arrived at by the family in consultations with the doctors at Nairobi’s Karen Hospital where he had been hospitalized.

Memusi stated that Tuju had been moved from Karen Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit to the General Ward.

Thursday’s statement follows, Monday’s update in which the ruling party said Tuju was conscious and fully in control of his limbs following the accident which occurred along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway on his way to retired President Daniel arap Moi’s burial.

Tuju had been immobilized for the last four days in order to minimize aggravation of the injuries he sustained, the governing party said in an earlier statement.
