Karen, Muthaiga to Host Latest Editions of U.S. Kids Golf Spring Local Tour

NAIROBI, Kenya, May 19 – The ongoing U.S. Kids Golf Spring Local Tour is gearing up for an exciting weekend as it heads to Karen Country Club on Saturday followed by Muthaiga Golf Club May 21.

Over 200 junior golfers are expected to participate in the two tournaments, which aims to provide them with a platform to refine their skills and enhance their competitiveness.

Jointly organized by U.S. Kids Golf and the Junior Golf Foundation Kenya, the junior events are sponsored by NCBA Bank as part of its continued commitment to supporting junior golf development in the region.

The bank has in the recent past continued to invest in the growth and advancement of young golfers by sponsoring junior tournaments.

The two events will feature junior golfers aged between 5 and 18 years old, enabling them to showcase their abilities and compete in age-appropriate competitions against their peers.

The Karen event had initially been scheduled for March this year but had to be postponed due to unfavorable weather conditions.

The upcoming Karen Country Club and Muthaiga Golf Club events are closely following the recently concluded Thika Sports Club edition held on May 7.

The Thika edition witnessed the impressive participation of 145 junior golfers, further emphasizing the Tour’s appeal and impact in the junior golfing community.

Commenting on the tournaments, NCBA Group Director of Marketing Nelly Wainaina expressed her delight in supporting the U.S. Kids Golf Spring Local Tour, underscoring the company’s unwavering dedication to junior golf development.

“NCBA Bank is delighted to support the Junior Golf Foundation and the U.S. Kids Golf Spring Local Tour as part of our unwavering commitment to junior golf development. We have witnessed the remarkable rise of junior golfers in recent times, and we are honored to contribute to their journey,” she said.

“Junior golfers have been on the rise, and we are proud to witness their remarkable achievements. Just this past weekend, we saw junior golfer Chanelle Wangari display her exceptional skills by securing second place in the Kenya Ladies Golf Union (KLGU) Stroke Play Amateur Championship at Muthaiga Golf Club, a tournament that we were privileged to sponsor,” she added.

The upcoming tournament will also offer the junior golfers a chance to qualify for international tournaments organized by U.S. Kids Golf.

By earning points for Priority Status, participants can pave their way to events such as the Regional Invitational and the U.S. Kids Golf Regional Championship, scheduled to take place later this year.
