Several pedestrians detained by NTSA for not using footbridges in Nairobi

NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 26 – The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has detained several pedestrians in Nairobi for failing to use the available footbridges.

The Safety Authority warned that the Pedestrians must also use walkways and other designated crossing points to avoid accidents and ensure their safety.

“This morning, several pedestrians who failed to obey traffic rules were detained. Pedestrians must use available footbridges, walkways and other designated crossing points to ensure their safety,” the Authority warned.

NTSA heightened its Usalama Barabarani sensitization initiatives targeting pedestrians after latest data released showed that 384 pedestrians have lost their lives, and remain the most vulnerable category of road users.

The Usalama Barabarani Campaign, set to be rolled out in various counties across the country targets to educate all road users especially pedestrians on Road safety rules in order to avoid accidents.

NTSA also cautioned drivers to always adhere to traffic rules in the coming Easter holidays.

“This Easter holiday’s period avoid speeding, lane indiscipline, and dangerous overtaking which is a traffic violation. Plan your Journey ahead. Avoid speeding!” It added.
