NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 11 — The inaugural Chief Justice’s Distinguished Women Movement Leaders’ Lunch is slated to be held on August 2.
Chief Justice Martha Koome said the fete is meant to commemorate the historical legacy and leadership of women leaders in the country.
“Kenya boasts a generation of women leaders who held the sails as we navigated the difficult post-independence years towards the constitutional promise of equality in life, legacy, and leadership,” she stated during a corporate gala for women on Friday.
The CJ further encouraged women to continue pushing their peddles in the fight to achieve gender equality, urging them not to be distracted by any challenge that they may encounter as they aim to achieve that goal.
“As we swim against patriarchal tides towards the deeper waters of full gender equity and equality, we must not be afraid to challenge structures that make this journey seemingly unattainable,” she stated.
Koome further affirmed that she will be on the frontline to advocate for gender cementing that she will execute a justice system that prioritizes the rights, safety, and dignity of every woman.
“On this Women’s Day, I join millions of women and champions of gender justice and equality worldwide in reaffirming my commitment to a justice system that prioritizes the rights, safety, and dignity of every woman,” the CJ stated.
She further congratulated Kenya’s elected women Governors on the launch of the G7 Strategy which aims to nurture and even the path for aspiring national leaders across all sectors in our country.
