NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 21– Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has listed his recent assignment to chair the Senate Select Committee considering the impeachment of Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza as part of his achievements in the first 100 days in office.
Khalwale, also the Senate Majority Whip, had earlier taken to his twitter account to express his excitement after the 11-member committee elected him to steer the proceedings, committing to carry out the task with fairness.
The committee was established on Tuesday after 33 Senators voted in favor of a committee process against two. No abstentions were recorded.
“The Senate with a decision of 94.3% has voted me as the chair of the Senate Committee for the hearing of the charges on impeachment of the Gov of Meru, H.E. Kawira Mwangaza. A humongous responsibility which I purpose to discharge without fear or favour. So help me God,” Khalwale stated.
Other achievements listed by the Kakamega Senator include “restoring the culture of accountability and oversight in Kakamega county, supporting Mumias Sugar Company to roar back, lobbying re-opening of the Kakamega Airstrip and return of grabbed public land.”
He also listed his appointment as Chief Whip and claimed credit for “Luhya community securing four CS posts, 5 PSs and National Assembly Speaker’s post.”
“I promised you that I would work. And in just 100 days we have a report card,” he stated.
