Govt says security enhanced in areas bordering Isiolo during national exams

MERU, Kenya, Nov 27 – Meru County Commissioner, Fred Ndunga, has assured learners and parents in seven sub counties bordering Isiolo County that enough measures have been put in place to enhance security during the forthcoming national examination period.

Addressing the press on the County’s state of preparedness to administer the examinations to Grade Six, Class eight and Form four candidates, Mr Ndunga said enough officers from various security formed units have been deployed to the area to safeguard the process.

“We have been having challenges of banditry attacks and cattle rustling in Buuri East and West, Tigania East and West, Igembe North and Central and also Mutuati Sub-counties that border Isiolo County, but we already have adequate security in those areas as we speak,” said Mr Ndunga.

He said the officers will carry out patrols along the border as well as in the learning institutions to see to it that there was no security lapse.

“All our officers are ready at the moment and we are confident that we will have a smooth process all through,” said Mr Ndunga.

He called on the residents to give all the candidates ample time to sit for their examinations by avoiding noise, including hooting near the examination centers.

“We don’t expect any interference near the examination centers and therefore motorists as well as entertainment joints owners should adhere to this at least during the examination period,” said Mr Ndunga.

He also called on parents to assist their children where necessary in order to help them post good results.
