KISUMU, Kenya, Dec 21 – A student in Migori County who sat the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations this year has committed suicide over poor results.

The 22-year-old who sat the examinations at Moi Nyabohanse Girls Secondary School is reported to have jumped into a well and drowned.

Migori County Police Commander Joseph Nthenge said the girl committed suicide after quarreling with her parents.

The deceased had scored the same grade two years ago at Osingo Mixed Secondary School and went back to form three where she sat the examinations this year.

Her parents accosted her for obtaining similar marks and not getting the university cut off points even after repeating.

She told her younger sister that she would commit suicide following the quarrel with her parents.

Elkana Okello, the deceased’s father insisted that they did not quarrel with her.

Her body was retrieved from the well and taken to a local mortuary.
