Cisse arrested on assault charge

LONDON, April 2 – Sunderland striker Djibril Cisse has been arrested on suspicion of common assault following an incident outside a lap dancing bar.

DJIBRIL_CISSEThe France striker was later released on police bail by officers investigating the incident during the early hours of Monday in Newcastle city centre.

It was reported that the alleged assault took place at 3am (0200GMT) outside the Diamonds club on Grey Street between Cisse, 27, and an unnamed woman.

Cisse, on loan to Premier League Sunderland from French club Marseille, made his name in England with a spell at Liverpool from 2004 to 2007.
