NAIROBI, Kenya, March 6 – Gor Mahia head to Kakamega to face Western Stima at Bukhungu stadium in a clash between the Kenya Premier League’s (KPL) seventh and sixth respectively on Saturday.‘K’ogalo’are buoyed by their thrilling 3-2 win over AFC Leopards last weekend and will be keen for another goal rush in their favour.
However, James Sianga’s side are up against an outfit that has only conceded one goal this season and is difficult to break down at their famous homeground.
Saturday will also see Leopards lock horns with Sofapaka at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
Both teams have enjoyed mixed fortunes since joining the top tier of Kenyan football this year.
Despite their loss to Gor, ‘Ingwe’ were a different side to the one that started the league and will be full of confidence with Captain Francis Xavier leading the way.
Sofapaka are one of the most exciting sides both on and off the pitch with their flamboyant style of play while their supporters add colour to their fixtures.
Defending champions Mathare United will play former title holders Tusker FC in one of the matches of the weekend.
Francis Kimanzi’s side are sitting comfortably in third position after last week’s 2-0 win over Agrochemicals with midfielders Austin Makacha and Titus Mulama in superb form.
League leaders Thika United host Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) at Thika Municipal stadium with a win maintaining their position at the top of the table.
Thika United are yet to concede a goal this season and their defence will be the foundation for their fourth win of the campaign.
In other matches, Agrochemicals host Sony Sugar, Nairobi City Stars take on Bandari, Ulinzi Stars play Sher Karuturi and Chemilil Sugar entertain Red Berets.
