Sonko to open boutique shop for woman who tattooed his face on her thigh

NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 12 – Former Nairobi governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko on Tuesday met Mary Njoki, a woman who went viral on social media after tattooing his face on her right thigh.

Njoki, a resident of Gatundu, Murang’a, disclosed that the former governor’s selfless charitable efforts greatly motivated her to have a tattoo of his face in the hopes that it would also bring her some assistance, as she is currently unemployed.

Njoki revealed to Sonko, during their meeting at his Nairobi office, that being a single mother and a class 8 dropout, parenting her two kids has not been easy.

Sonko who consented to open a boutique business for her to be able to take care of her children, however cautioned the public not to abuse his kindness in such a way.

“You know that I don’t want to show other girls out there that you can just do anything because of Sonko, some will be busy taking  advantage and I must also avoid that because everyone can draw my tattoo,” Sonko warned.

In addition to giving Njoki a business shop, he also agreed to pay her six months’ rent in advance until she was able to manage the store on her own.

“First go identify a shop after you have done that, I will send my team to come to Murang’a so  that we can set up a business for you to run. We can’t give you cash money, we will oversee everything,” he said.

Sonko said that he can only assist Njoki in starting her own business because, as a class 8 dropout, it will be difficult for her to find employment without academic qualifications.

The flamboyant politician is well known by many for lending a hand to the underprivileged in society.

He was also appointed the Good Deeds Ambassador by an Israel-based organization for his generosity in helping the needy back in 2019.

Sonko earned the ambassadorial position based on the charitable work he had undertaken over the years.
